Position: Chief Digital Technology Officer
Salary: Up to £117,000 per annum plus benefits
Location: Taunton
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (Minimum 60% Office-Based)

The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is at the forefront of an ambitious transformation journey, driving change across our systems, services, and culture. As a critical provider of geospatial maritime data, our Digital & Technology services are central to our evolution. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Digital Technology Officer (CDTO) to lead this transformation, ensuring our services meet the needs of our customers, including the Royal Navy, and uphold the UK's Safety of Life at Sea commitments.
Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the CEO and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CDTO will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of UKHO. You will lead our 200-strong Digital & Technology division, championing innovation, driving our digital strategy, and ensuring we remain at the cutting edge of maritime geospatial data services. Your leadership will be crucial in enhancing our digital services, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring we deliver on our transformation goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of UKHO’s digital and technology strategy, aligning it with our broader transformation objectives.
Serve as the Head of the Digital and Data profession within UKHO, guiding a diverse team and ensuring a high-performance culture.
Act as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), responsible for the technical and cyber security of UKHO's digital estate.
Champion digital innovation, leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve services for customers and internal stakeholders.
Manage and develop key technology partnerships, ensuring value for money and successful delivery of projects.
Work collaboratively with other executive leaders to deliver UKHO’s corporate and business plans.
Build and maintain a pipeline of digital talent, fostering an inclusive, diverse, and agile workforce.
Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as a digital and/or technology leader with a strong track record of delivering digital transformation.
Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
Strong understanding of modern digital and data technologies, including enterprise architecture, software development, cyber security, and service management.
Commercially astute, with the ability to build and manage strategic partnerships and provide sound advice to senior leadership.
A strategic thinker with the ability to articulate a vision and inspire engagement across the organisation.
